What drew you to interior design as a profession, and where did your journey begin?

Being raised in a family of architects and designers really inspired me to follow this path and get into the interior design field. Ever since I was a child, I used to always watch my parents get creative with designs and problem-solving which of course has taught me a lot from a young age, and that’s when I decided that I want to pursue this path and I joined The American University of Sharjah in 2017 and got my Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from the College of Architecture, Art and Design.

what is an achievement from the past year that you’re particularly proud of and why it stands out?

I would say working with Ochre on the Cop28 Pavilion down at Expo City Dubai was one of my achievements from last year because it was not only a world-class project that hosted world leaders and VIPs, but it was also special to me because we have proudly won the “Installation of the Year” award at the Design Middle East Awards Event this year which obviously was one of this year’s highlights.

How do you approach creating spaces that are not only visually appealing but also functional and meaningful for clients?

For me, creating spaces shouldn’t only be appealing to the eyes, but it should also create experiences, stories and unique atmospheres or moods. I always study the clients or visitors and put myself in their shoes and try to understand their vision, needs and expectations and try to imagine or live the complete journey or experience. I think in that way you can create functional, visually pleasing spaces.

What’s a trend in interior design that excites you, and how do you see it shaping the future?

Honestly there are so many interesting trends in the interior design world, but i think what excites me the most are sustainable and biophilic designs. Not only do they have a significant effect on the environment but also nowadays there is a wide range of recycled sustainable materials that could give a very interesting and unique look to the space if used properly. I believe that if we tried to incorporate more sustainable designs and materials into the field of interior design, it would definitely impact our environment positively and help build a tomorrow.

As we’re approaching the end of the year, what was this year’s highlight?

2024 has been filled with special events but the highlight I’ve got to say is being shortlisted for the “Emerging Designer of the Year” award at Design Middle East Awards. It was such a proud experience for me and it gave me motivation to achieve more in the coming year!
